This panel will bring together policy experts and scientists from North America and Europe to discuss the need for a truly global forest protection framework to meet international climate and biodiversity targets. The panelists will unpack the international frameworks and dynamics contributing to the Global North’s lack of accountability for protecting its own domestic forests; reflect on recent steps from the U.S. and other international leaders to address this issue; and discuss the urgency, in the wake of the Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration on Forests and Land Use, of the international community aligning around a comprehensive vision of protecting forests globally, from the tropics to the boreal.
